Man, where does the time go?
It’s been around five months since I last wrote on Deutschified, but it feels like just a few weeks. When I looked at the site this morning I realised it’s been far too long since I wrote here.
The truth is that it’s been a bit of a hectic summer.
Firstly I started a brand new business where I teach regular people how to start their own freelance writing business. So, it’s safe to say that’s eaten most of the spare time that I’ve had.
Secondly, I’ve not really been in Germany for the last three months.
Me and my wonderful German girlfriend packed our rucksacks, boarded a plane and decided to do some backpacking around Asia.
We spent four weeks in Sri Lanka and five in Thailand. Which, to be honest, was an excellent way to spend a summer.
Now I’m finally back in the country and trying to find some level of routine again.
My level of German has held quite steady whilst I’ve been away. It’s not reverted to Denglish just yet. My girlfriend and I made the most of being surrounded by mostly English speaking travellers and using it as a ‘secret’ language.
In fact, after a bit of a pause of using it all day every day, I think it’s improved. Like when you rest your muscles and come back stronger.
It’s also been pretty easy to fit back in here. It’s like I’ve never really been away, and life plods along as normal. And, so it goes.
But mostly with this post I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who used the blog in my absence.
You guys really mean alot to me and it’s been lovely to have the support, although the site has been relatively dormant.
Anyway, I’m going to call it a day here and go and work on some of the posts for the coming weeks.
What have you been up to over the summer? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
